The design of four buildings in the center of Łódź is a study of contemporary urban development embedded in a complex historical and functional context. The starting point was an analysis of the processes shaping the urban structure of this part of the city, including former land divisions, the scale of historical development, and the evolution of functions.
The complex of four buildings was designed in a block layout, with clearly defined frontages and urban interiors. The diversity of forms allows for a gradation of scale, from intensive urban development to more intimate interior spaces. A key element of the concept is the mixing of functions: the residential buildings are complemented with services that activate the ground floors and strengthen the relationship with the public space.
Particular attention was paid to the quality of common spaces, green courtyards, clear pedestrian routes, and semi-public zones, which foster integration and foster local identity. The design is characterized by subdued colors, a simple, contemporary form, and the use of durable, traditional materials such as brick and steel, referencing the history of the site and the city context.
