On Tuesday, March 10, 2015, the winners of the second Polish edition of the Brick Award architecture competition were announced at a gala held at the Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw. Seven completed buildings and two projects prepared by architecture students received Brick Award statuettes and awards. The selected buildings once again proved that over the past two years there have been many excellent realizations. They will represent our country in the international edition of the competition. Almost 70 objects and projects were submitted to the Polish edition of the 2015 Brick Award competition.

The “Ericpol Software Pool” office building, designed by Horizone Studio and constructed in Lodz, was among the awarded realizations, in the category of public buildings. The investor of the building is Ericpol, and the general contractor is the Lodz branch of Strabag.
The justification of the jury’s verdict for the Ericpol office building award reads:
“The Ericpol Software Pool office building, designed by Horizone Studio Darasz Kisielewski Strzeński Sp. J., was awarded for its ambitious, authorial approach to shaping the façade using hand-formed brick. The light-toned qualities of the irregularly laid brick are further emphasized by the contrasting juxtaposition with smooth glass surfaces and the finely crafted industrial detailing of the curtain wall. The use of ceramic allowed for a uniform finish of vertical and horizontal planes (the ceiling in the arcade). The choice of brick, a material with a long history, associated with weight and durability, in an archaic, man-made version is particularly interesting in the context of the building’s function – an office building of an IT company, and therefore dealing with the virtual, immaterial world.”
For the Brick Award 2015, architectural studios submitted their projects, and editors from the architectural media pointed out, in their opinion, buildings worthy of distinction. The nominations were prepared by:
