The tender for the construction of the first green office in Poland has been launched The company Regionalne Centrum Administracyjne “Małopolska” has announced a tender for a general contractor for the building complex of the Marshal’s Office in Krakow. The deadline for submitting and opening bids is scheduled for May 15. Construction work should start in autumn at the latest and will last two years. The cost of constructing the complex of office buildings, the necessary infrastructure and land development will be about PLN 240 million. The investment will be financed by a bank loan taken out by RCA. The complex of buildings to be constructed at the Grzegórzeckie Roundabout will be the first fully ecological and certified complex of office buildings in Poland, which already at the planning stage was subjected to a multi-criteria BREEAM environmental assessment and was certified at the Excellent level. A Krakow-Katowice consortium of offices is responsible for the project, selected in an international architectural competition: Horizone Studio (authors of the design of buildings A and B and the development of the site) and Małeccy Biuro Projektowe (authors of the design of building C). The development of the area and the foreground of the buildings along Powstania Warszawskiego Avenue has been fully linked to the Superpath project, which envisions coherent development of the area between the Mogilskie and Grzegórzeckie traffic circles. The plazas and spaces between the buildings will be filled with greenery and benches. The roofs of the buildings are planned as green areas and terraces with low-maintenance vegetation.
The UMWM building complex at the Grzegórzeckie Roundabout includes three buildings, two of which will house the Office and the Assembly of the Malopolska Region. The third will house MARR SA offices and a kindergarten. The first floors of all three buildings are intended for commercial premises, including a small restaurant, a store and service premises.
– Offices of the provincial government, scattered today in various points of the city, will be located in one place, which will reduce operating costs of the office and facilitate cooperation between departments.
Thanks to the solutions used in this project, the residents of Cracow will gain a new, attractive and friendly public space,” says Artur Szopa, president of RCA ‘Małopolska’.
Thanks to the use of advanced technological solutions, the complex will consume more than 30 percent less energy compared to facilities designed in a traditional way.
– For us as designers, the most important news is that such a high level of environmentally friendly solutions was achieved without having to make major changes to the project compared to the competition concept developed in October 2013. This means that from the very beginning our assumptions towards energy efficiency, environmental friendliness and quality of architectural solutions were correct,” Horizone Studio architects emphasize.
