“Investment with character” – say the architects from the Horizone Studio studio about their project of two multi-family residential buildings completed in Krakow. The name of the Rydlówka 40 investment comes from the street where the houses were built. The investment consists of 2 multi-family buildings, in which 65 apartments with areas ranging from 41 m2 to 124 m2 were built, as well as a commercial and service premises.
Idea for an apartment
The Horizone Studio studio, headquartered in Krakow, has completed residential projects, single-family houses of various types, as well as less typical public projects. The design of two residential buildings on Rydlówka Street in Krakow also stands out from other such investments implemented in Poland.
The two seven-storey buildings designed by Horizone Studio in Krakow were put into use at the beginning of 2024. As the architects emphasize, the investment was sold in its entirety before the construction was completed. Did the appearance of the houses contribute to this? The architects slightly shifted the two twin buildings relative to each other, and marked the entrances to each with rounded vertical indentations in the front elevation. The tectonics of the side elevations of the buildings is created by the rhythm of light balconies, but the nature of the investment is evidenced by the facades of both blocks.
Colorful ceramics in architecture
They were covered with enameled colorful external ceramics. Each of the houses received its own set of colors. The architects emphasize that the selection of the external and internal colors of the buildings was based on the historical connections of the area, and especially to the RKS Garbarnia Kraków sports team, whose pitches are located near the investment. The architects of Horizone Studio decided on a solution that is not very popular in Polish new architecture, namely the use of vivid, expressive colors on large surfaces of the facades. The buildings certainly stand out from others thanks to this, but the color was used in them so subtly and sensitively that it does not irritate, does not dominate, but only gives the houses an interesting, cheerful and individual character.
